Highland girls blank visitors in 3rd quarter

The Highland High School girls basketball team got a conference win Tuesday and shut out the visitors from Winfield-Mt. Union in the third quarter.
Wapello 47, Iowa Mennonite School 43
The Iowa Mennonite School girls lost to the visitors from Wapello Tuesday in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.
IMS turned a 10-8 deficit after the first quarter into a 27-23 lead by halftime, but were outscored 16-7 in the fourth quarter.
Suzanna Yoder led IMS with 28 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. Mia Graber added 11 points to go with five rebounds and Yani Gutierrez led the team with 11 rebounds.
IMS is 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the North. They play next at Winfield-Mt. Union Friday.
Wapello is 4-2, 3-2 North.
Highland 54, Winfield-Mt. Union 21
A 12-7 first-quarter lead was 33-17 at halftime and Highland blanked the visitors 9-0 in the third quarter of the SEISC North win Tuesday.
Abbie Miller had 15 points in the win and Aly Stokes added 11. Kylie Wood scored eight and Alyssa Brase seven.
Highland is 5-2, 4-2 North and play Thursday at Louisa-Muscatine. W-MU is 2-6, 1-4.
Belle Plaine 39, Keota 18
The South Iowa Cedar League home game Tuesday was low scoring for the Eagles.
It was 11-4 for the visitors after a quarter, 21-11 at the half, and 30-17 after three quarters.
Belle Plaine is 5-1, 4-1 in the league. Keota is 3-5, 2-2 and plays Lynville-Sully Friday in Keota.
DANVILLE 36, WACO 25
Alyssa Pfadenhauer scored 11 points to lead the Bears to a South Division win at Danville.
Ashley Pfadenhauer and Isabella Smith each scored seven points for Danville. Kristen Conley led WACO with six points and Clare Schmits had five.
Danville is 4-3 while WACO (2-5) hosts Holy Trinity Friday.
