Highland girls lose first game of season
The Highland girls? basketball team suffered their first loss Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Wapello, with the final score being 49-58.
Wapello took the lead in the first quarter going up 17-14 and never relinquished it as they added 15 more in the second quarter to Highland?s nine putting the score at 32-23 at the break.

The Highland girls? basketball team suffered their first loss Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Wapello, with the final score being 49-58.
Wapello took the lead in the first quarter going up 17-14 and never relinquished it as they added 15 more in the second quarter to Highland?s nine putting the score at 32-23 at the break.
After halftime, Wapello scored 14 points to Highland?s 10, for a 46-33 lead. Highland would try and recover in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 points, but it was too late as Wapello scored 12 to get the win.
Kelsey Hora led the team in scoring with 21 points, surpassing the 1,000-point plateau. Alyson Stokes had 14. Brylee Carolan scored eight points, and scoring two points apiece were Amy Schnoebelen, Murphy Beinhart and Abbie Miller.
The girls move to 8-1 and play their next game at New London Friday, Jan. 6, beginning at 6 p.m.
