FORT MADISON — The 2024 Southeast Iowa Super Conference girls golf meet came right down to just a couple of strokes, as Highland and New London battled to the bitter end for a league title.
In the end, it was Highland that had cause to Celebrate. The Huskies shot a 380 to nip the Tigers by just two strokes.
“ "It was exciting to see these girls compete,” Highland head coach Travis Riggan told the Hawkeye. “It wasn't our best day, but we were able to put up some good rounds.”
The Huskies were led by Adisyn Prottsman, who shot a 91 to tie for third place overall. Danika Kraus finished in the Top-5 as well, taking fifth place with a 92.
The Huskies had four golfers finish in the Top-10. Kelsi Cerny shot a 97 to take eighth place and Emersyn Schultz rounded out the scorers with a 100.
Adeline Krotz finished 14th, shooting 105. Haley Sands was seven strokes behind her, with a 112.
“Each one of these girls performed very well today,” Riggan said. “This was our first real competition that we've had, going with New London, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis.”
New London’s Taylor Phillips gave the Tigers a fighting chance for the team gold by shooting an incredible 76 to win the individual championship.
Phillips won the meet by seven strokes, beating out second-place Olivia Hines of Mediapolis. She was 15 strokes ahead of third-place Prottsman.
