Highland hoops sweeps L-M
The Highland basketball teams continued their strong seasons on Tuesday night, picking up a pair of victories over Louisa-Muscatine.

The Highland basketball teams continued their strong seasons on Tuesday night, picking up a pair of victories over Louisa-Muscatine.
The Huskie girls improved to 11-2 on the season with a 55-38 victory over L-M, bringing Highland?s conference record to 8-1.
The girls? team was led by a strong performance from the entire team, as four girls finished with double-digit points.
Aly Stokes finished the game with a team-high 13 points, while Kelsey Hora had 12, Cheyann Adamson had 11 and Brianna Davis notched 10 points.
Stokes notched three 3-pointers in the contest for the Huskies, who used a 20-point third quarter to pull away in the contest.
The Highland boys? basketball team came into Tuesday night?s game looking to bounce back after a pair of tough losses to Winfield-Mt. Union on Friday and Wilton on Monday.
The Huskies did just that, picking up a 67-58 victory over L-M, behind a 46-point second-half outburst.
Junior Trent Lasek led the team with 16 points and eight assists, while junior Jake Wood came off the bench to notch three 3-pointers en route to 14 points.
Bill Burton also found himself in double-digit scoring with 11 points, and led the team with a team-high seven steals and two blocks.
As a team, the Huskie boys shot 49 percent from the field in the contest, and 13-of-16 from the free-throw line.
Highland will take a small break before taking on Wapello, who handed the boys their first loss of the season, on Friday night.
