With the 2025-26 girls basketball season in the rearview comes another addition of the All-Union girls basketball teams. Players from the area’s small schools
A pair of all-state selections — Highland’s Kamryn Fink and Mid-Prairie’s Morgyn Bender — earned their way onto this year’s team. The Golden Hawks were also represented on the All-Union team by Jovi Evans after a 18-6 season.
Keota went from zero representatives on last season’s All-Union team to two — Cameron Haifley and Eagles coach Jeff Sprouse — after a strong campaign. Van Buren county’s Adalyn Snowgren and Pekin’s Abby Guise also earned spots.
The 2025-26 All-Union small school girls basketball team
Coach: Jeff Sprouse, Keota
Sprouse led the Eagles to an 18-win season, which broke the record for the most victories in a campaign in program history. Keota ranked inside the top-25 in Class 1A in scoring at 52.9 points per game and was second in the South Iowa Cedar League to Lynnville-Sully, which went undefeated until the state tournament.
The Eagles went 11-5 in conference play and finished third, one game behind a three-way tie for second place between English Valleys, Montezuma and North Mahaska. Keota also won its opening two playoff games over Hillcrest Academy and Highland.
Captain: Kamryn Fink, Highland
While the Huskies fell short against the Eagles this postseason — setting up an enticing rematch in next season’s 4 Corners Shootout — they were the dominant power in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North thanks in large part to another excellent season from Fink.
The sophomore landed on the All-Union team for a second straight season after averaging 16.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 5.9 steals and two blocks. Fink led Class 1A with 230 defensive rebounds and ranked second with 141 steals. She was recognized on the Iowa Prep Sports Writers and Iowa Girls Coaches Association all-state teams and was a unanimous All-SEIC North first team selection.
Morgyn Bender, Mid-Prairie
Bender was also named to the IPSWA and IGCA all-state teams at the 3A level and was an All-River Valley South Conference first-team selection. She helped Mid-Prairie a 12-2 conference record and a pair of postseason wins over Albia and Pella Christian.
The junior averaged 13.3 points 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, three steals and 1.3 blocks. Bender’s 320 points were the second most in the RVC South. She also ranked in the top five in blocks and steals.
Jovi Evans, Mid-Prairie
The Golden Hawks’ high-pressure defense became a staple of their season, and Evans was a critical piece of that identity. Evans’ 75 steals led Mid-Prairie, were tied for second most in the RVC South and contributed to the Golden Hawks tally of 368, which was tied for the fifth most in Class 3A.
Evans was an RVC South first-teamer and an IGCA All-Southeast District selection. She averaged 11.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
Cameron Haifley, Keota
Haifley jumped from 11.8 points per game as a freshman to 17.4 in her sophomore season. She also led the Eagles with 2.2 assists, three steals and 1.3 blocks per game.
After she helped Keota to its record-breaking season, Haifley became a unanimous first-team All-South Iowa Cedar League selection and made the 1A IGCA All-Southeast District team. Haifley is poised to be one of the standout players in a strong SICL division as the Eagles look to soar to even greater heights next season.
Abby Guise, Pekin
Guise helped the Panthers to 11 wins along with a 1A Region 6 playoff victory over WACO. She was named first-team all-conference in the SEISC North and ranked second in the division in rebounds with 244.
In her senior season, Guise averaged a double-double with 12 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. She also led Pekin in assists (2.3) and steals (2.9).
Adalyn Snowgren, Van Buren County
The breakout freshman star on this year’s All-Union team, Snowgren helped Van Buren to a 15-8 record, including 9-5 in SEISC South play. The Warriors finished tied for third place in the conference standings with West Burlington.
Snowgren’s 314 points ranked fourth among SEISC South players — the other members of the top five are all seniors. Snowgren also ranked third in boards with 179 and led the conference with 118 defensive rebounds. Snowgren’s per game marks saw her average a team-high 13.7 points along with 7.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game, which saw her earn all-conference second-team honors.
