Highland runs at L-M

Highland competed at the L-M Invitational Thursday.
Highland's girls track team placed third of five teams at the meet with 78 points while the boys team was fifth with 18 points. Louisa-Muscatine's girls won with 93 and Wapello boys won at 151.
Highland's Madison Thomann won the 1500-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 38.54 seconds. Emily Yahnke won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 3 inches and Aly Stokes was fourth at 14-10.5. Stokes was second in the 200 in 28.06. Yahnke was second in the 100 in 13 seconds flat and Sarah Schneider was fifth at 13.47. Alyssa Clarke was third in the 400 with a time of 1:09. Alli Brand took fourth in the 3000 in 13:38.95. Thomann was third in the 800 in 2:55.91.
The 4x8 was second in 12:17.27 with Taylor Sublette, Fiona Mahler, Clarke and Thomann. The 4x2 was second with Schneider, Stokes, Kristy Thomann and Yahnke in 1:57.47. The same four runners took second in the 4x1 with a time of 53.72. The sprint medley of Grace Batcheller, Jenna Sands, K. Thomann and Emma Soukup was third in 2:15.28. Sands, Soukup, Sublette and Clark were third in the 4x4 with a time of 5:06.59.
Kadin Jepsen was second in the 100 in 11.65 and third in the 200 in 24.21. Connor Grinstead was fourth in the long jump at 17-4. Zack Lasek was third in the shot with a put of 40-9.5 and fifth in the discus with a toss of 110-9.
Columbus, WACO run at W-MU
Both boys and girls team from Columbus and WACO ran Thursday at the W-MU Inviatational in Winfield.
The WACO girls were sixth and Columbus seventh. The WACO boys were seventh and Columbus eighth.
WACO's Grace Conwell won the 400 hurdles in 1:14.88. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Laney Graber, Maggie Rinner, Conwell and Molly McLaughlin were victors with a time of 1:15.33. The 4x1 relay was second with Olivia Leichty, Kaylee Shelman, Graber and Conwell in 55.71. The same four ran the 4x2 and placed second in 2:00.25.
Columbus' Angie Byas won the long jump with a distance of 14-10.
Columbus' Will Scwab was second in the 800 in 2:10.66. Issac Acosta was second in the 3200 in 11:27.94. The 4x8 team was third in 9:13.86 with Schwab, Hunter Humiston, Jesus Medrano and Garrett Palmer.
WACO's Colton Horak (15.95) and Drew Kissell (17.48) went first and second in the 110 high hurdles. Kissell, Elijah McGohan, Jalen Collins and Nik Coble won the shuttle hurdle with a time of 1:11.15. Horak won the 400 hurdles in 58.37 while McGowan was third at 1:02.56. Jonah Egli was third in the 1600 in 5:14.41. The distance medley was second in 4:04.4 with Horak, Kissell, McGohan, and Egli.
