Highland sweeps Lone Tree
With six minutes left, the Highland boys? basketball team was locked in a dogfight with rival Lone Tree on Tuesday night.

With six minutes left, the Highland boys? basketball team was locked in a dogfight with rival Lone Tree on Tuesday night.
After being swept by the Lions a season ago, the Huskies made sure that didn?t happen, closing the game with a 23-2 run to end the game, and taking the victory 59-38.
Highland improved to 4-1 with the victory (2-1 in the conference), while Lone Tree fell to 5-1 (2-1 in conference play). The Huskies are also tied with Winfield-Mt. Union in conference action, and sit one game behind Iowa Mennonite, which is undefeated to start the year.
Trent Lasek led the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the contest, while Nick Sandburg had 13 and Tereze Lanfair notched eight.
On the girls? side of the doubleheader on Tuesday, the game wasn?t quite as close.
Kelsey Hora had 24 points to lead three Huskies in double figures, as Highland improved to 5-1 on the season with a 66-32 victory.
Highland broke away in the second quarter, only allowing three Lone Tree points in the frame to take a 33-13 lead at half.
In the second half, Lone Tree hung around, but ended up only scoring two fourth-quarter points, as Highland closed out the game.
In addition to her team high in points, Hora notched team highs in steals (7) and assists (4). Cheyann Adamson had 16 points in the contest to go with four steals and three assists, while freshman Ali Stokes had 13 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and three blocks.
Highland will take on Mediapolis on Friday night in a girls?-boys? doubleheader.
