Highland wins SEISC golf title in dominant showing

BURLINGTON — The Southeast Iowa Super Conference (SEISC) Girls Golf Tournament unfolded at Flint Hills Golf Course in Burlington on Monday afternoon.

As always, the SEISC final showcased some of the region’s top high school golfers.

Taking this year’s conference crown was none other than Highland. The Huskies emerged victorious after posting a combined score of 370, capturing the team title by 31 strokes.

Highland’s Emersyn Schultz, was the conference medalist with a 87, while teammate Adisyn Prottsman followed in second with an 88.

Wapello and Columbus rounded out the top three with team scores of 401 and 403 respectively.

The Wildcats were led by Hailey Wellington, who tied for sixth with a 93.

Area teams in New London and Van Buren County capped off the top five with the Tigers shooting 407 for fourth and the Warriors 427 for fifth.

Van Buren County’s Sophia Jirak as well as WACO’s Morgan Meyer of WACO nearly notched top two finishes. The pair tied for third, showing just how competitive it was across the board.

New London’s Emma Busby cracked the top five with a 92. The Tigers also had a top 10 finisher in Stevey Wintermeier, who finished eighth with a 95.

Winfield-Mt. Union ended up in sixth with 437, with Ashlyn Bender leading the way with a ninth overall finisher, golfing a 96. Hillcrest Academy was 11th with a 471 and WACO 12th with a 472.
