A year ago, Highland senior, then junior, Abbi Stransky suffered a season-ending knee injury during basketball season that kept her out of the 2021-22 softball season.
This season, after rehabbing the knee for a year, Stransky made her return to the softball field for one last go in the Huskie uniform.
She made the most of it, as when the Iowa Girls Coaches Association released its Class 1A All-District softball teams last week, Stransky was the lone Union area softballer to make the list.
The Southeast Iowa Super Conference first-team pick helped the Huskies to a second-place finished in the SEISC North.
Highland ended the season with a 18-11 overall record and 11-3 in SEISC North action.
Stransky finished the year with an average of .301 at the plate. In 29 games, she finished with 28 runs, 25 hits and a team-best 28 RBIs. Stransky stole 17-17 bases on the season.
