Hillcrest Academy ends 2023 with sweep
Ravens take down Cedar Valley Christian in boys and girls basketball

KALONA — The Hillcrest Academy basketball teams finished the 2023 calendar year with a pair of wins on Thursday night.
The Ravens ran over Cedar Valley Christian in a non-conference doubleheader. The girls rolled 53-21, and the boys dominated 64-17.
The win for the Hillcrest girls was the first since Dec. 2. The Ravens had lost six games in a row, but wiped out that losing streak right before the new year.
The boys finished out 2023 with three wins in their final four games.
Seth Ours led the Hillcrest boys with 24 points, eight assists and four steals. Mason Bender had 23 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Bryce Bailey scored six points for the Ravens. Kale Bailey had five. Mason Helmuth scored four, and Lincoln Miller had two.
The Hillcrest Academy boys move into the new year 8-2 overall and 5-2 in league play. The Raven girls are 2-8 overall and 0-8 in conference play.
