Hillcrest Academy moves on
The Ravens down Holy Trinity Catholic in the opening round
KALONA — Hillcrest Academy started its postseason journey on the right note Tuesday night. The Ravens picked up a 61-36 victory over the Crusaders of Holy Trinity Catholic in the first round of the Class 1A Region 5 bracket.
The Ravens put together a big first half, while finishing strong in the fourth to continue their season.
Hillcrest outscored Holy Trinity 29-16 in the first half and topped that with an even better second, 42-20.
In the next round, the Ravens will get their third shot at Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division rival Winfield-Mt. Union on Feb. 17. The Wolves got the better of the Ravens in both meetings this season.
Grant Bender and Hillcrest Academy are moving on to the second round of the Class 1A Region 5 bracket. They will matchup with Winfield-Mt. Union for the third time this season. (Andy Krutsinger/The Union)
