Tuesday night’s boys basketball action saw Hillcrest Academy clinch a share of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division, WACO stay in the North race and New London win its first game of the season.
Hillcrest Academy 77, Lone Tree 27
Hillcrest Academy locked up a share of the conference title in impressive fashion, routing Lone Tree by 50 points at home.
The Ravens moved to 14-2 in SEISC North play with the win. WACO (13-2) can still spit with a win in the Warriors’ last conference battle.
WACO 45, Winfield-Mount Union 40
WACO stayed on pace to tie up the SEISC North with a win over rival Winfield-Mount Union.
Christian Stacy scored 18 points in the Warriors’ win. Holden Hughes finished with 12, and Isaac Rich scored 11.
Winfield-Mount Union’s Cooper Buffington finished with 10 points. Lane Genkinger and Cody Milks each had nine.
WACO will play at Wapello on Feb. 11. A win there would tie up the conference title with Hillcrest Academy.
Louisa-Muscatine 80, Highland 67
Highland put up a good fight thanks in part to Bryce Hazelett’s 25-point performance. William Dunbar finished with 11 points in the loss, and Logan McFarland scored 10.
Pekin 68, Columbus 37
The Panthers controlled the entire game at Columbus, winning every quarter en route to a SEISC North victory.
With the win, Pekin is now locked into at least a tie for third place, against the very Winfield-Mount Union team they will play on the road in the final regular season game on Feb. 11.
New London 69, Twin Cedars 59
The New London Tigers are winners for the first time this season after taking out Twin Cedars in a non-conference home game.
New London won each of the first three quarters, leading 56-38 going into the final eight minutes.
Mid-Prairie 71, Tipton 63
Mid-Prairie rallied back from an early deficit to knock off Tipton, clinching second place in the River Valley South.
Keota 82, Belle Plaine 37
Keota polished off a South Iowa Cedar League East title with a blowout win over Belle Plaine.
Chariton 80, Cardinal 27
The Comets couldn’t knock off Chariton in a South Central Conference road game. The Chargers won every quarter, holding Cardinal to just six points in the second half.
