Hillcrest gets 1st volleyball win under new coach

BURLINGTON — Hillcrest Academy recorded its first volleyball match win of 2021 under new coach Brandon Statler Saturday.
The Ravens went 2-2 at defending state champion Notre Dame’s volleyball tournament. Hillcrest beat Centerville 22-20, 21-14 and Louisa-Muscatine 21-11, 21-17.
The Ravens lost to the Class 1A 2020 champion Nikes 21-8, 21-6 and Wapello 21-7, 21-14.
Norah Yoder put up 30 assists in the tournament for Hillcrest. Esther Hughes notched 17 kills and six blocks while Ravens teammate Malia Yoder had 20 digs. Evelyn Gerber added 16 digs.
Hillcrest (2-9) plays Louisa-Muscatine (0-3) again on Tuesday, this time in a Super Conference North Division match at Hillcrest.
