Hillcrest, Shelledy win SEISC titles
Ravens golf team flies to 1st place in Super Conference meet; New London senior wins playoff

WAPELLO — A big selection of Union area golfers went at it in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference boys tournament on Wednesday in Wapello, and the area brought home the two biggest prizes available.
Hillcrest Academy put together some of the best scores of the night to win the conference championship, shooting 322 to get the job done.
Hillcrest had four players scoring 85 an under, the only team in the field to accomplish that feat.
Leading the way for the Ravens was Luke Schrock, who finished tied for first with New London’s Mason Shelledy, as both shot 77. In the sudden-death playoff, it was Shelledy who outlasted Schrock, winning the individual title for the Tigers in his final SEISC tournament.
As a team, the Ravens defeated second-place Mediapolis by almost 30 strokes. Along with Schrock, Rowan Miller also shot under 80, closing his tournament out with a final stroke total of 79, for third place overall.
Other scorers for the Ravens included fifth-place Jace Rempel, who shot 81, and Liam Schrock, who finished out at 85. Josiah Beachy shot 91, and Seth Ours ended at 96.
New London finished fourth overall, shooting 358 as a team. Along with Shelledy, the Tigers’ second leading scorer was Wyatt Miller, who finished at 90.
Weston Miller shot 93 for New London. Coen Fitzpatrick shot a 98, which included the lone ace of the tournament. Fitzpatrick hit a hole-in-one on Hole 2.
Vegas Watson finished at 104 for New London. Sully Bain shot 107.
Sitting in fifth place was Van Buren County. The Warriors finished just five strokes behind New London, at 363.
Van Buren’s T.J. Jirak collected a seventh-place overall with a final stroke total of 83. Dylan Richardson was the next-best Warrior, shooting 91.
Anthony Duncan finished out at 94 for Van Buren. Riley Bruckman shot 95 for the team’s fourth scorer. Aidan McEntee ended at 97, a nd Jerrod Griffin shot 119.
Winfield-Mount Union took eighth-place overall. The Wolves shot 387, just nipping ninth-place Notre Dame by two strokes.
Carter Loyd shot 88 to lead WMU. Jake Edwards finished at 98. Andrew Brown ended the day at 100. Max Edwards shot 101, and Konner Kinneberg finished at 108.
Highland shot 442 as a team to finish 10th. Peyton Yeggy led the Huskies with an 88.
William Dunbar shot 112 for the Huskies. Isaac Kleese ended at 115, and Colton Sypherd shot 127.
Columbus shot a 448 on the day to finish 11th. Grant Watson led the way, finishing the day with a stroke total of 94.
Ryan Coil and Ethan Palmer each shot 111 for Columbus. Mason Heck finished at 132.
