Hillcrest wins volleyball match over Pekin
Ravens swoop down on Panthers for 4-set triumph

KALONA — Hillcrest recorded a four-set win over Super Conference North Division foe Pekin Tuesday.
The Ravens won 25-17, 25-21, 19-25, 25-13.
The Ravens stat line of Esther Hughes read 18-of-20 serving, nine kills, five aces, four blocks and three digs while Ravens teammate Kylee Statler hit six kills. Evelyn Gerber had 10 digs, Grace Miller nine with Vlada Conea and Malia Yoder picking up seven digs each.
“Our team effort disrupted Pekin from establishing any rhythm all evening, outside of a serving run in Set 3,” Hillcrest coach Brandon Statler said.
Taylor Gambell contributed eight assists, four digs, three kills and two aces for Pekin. Claire Roth had team-highs with 17 digs and five kills. Kyli Fitzsimmons pitched in five aces and four kills.
Hillcrest is 4-14, 2-2 North and Pekin 2-6, 0-4. Pekin hosts Lone Tree Thursday while Hillcrest goes to Wapello.
