Hostetler atop rankings as team moves up

The seventh weekly rankings released Tuesday by the Iowa Association of Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches saw Mid-Prairie move up to second from fourth in the Class 2A girls rankings.
Williamsburg moved from second to first, but Mid-Prairie defeated Williamsburg Monday at the Iowa Mennonite Invitational.
Mid-Prairie's Marie Hostetler rmains in the top spot of the individual rankings in 2A. Williamsburg highest ranked runner, Megan Rathjen is No. 12, but Mid-Prairie's Mitzi Evans is No. 13.
At the IMS meet Monday, Rathjen finished seventh in 20 minutes, 51.10 seconds. Evans was eighth in 20:51.90. Mt. Pleasant's Abby Ryon was ninth in 21:10.54. Ryon is ranked seventh in Class 3A. Danville-New London's Addy Parrot was third at IMS in 20:24.74. She is ranked 14th in 2A. Fairfield's Ashley Bloomquist, ranked 18th in 3A, was second at IMS in 20:03.08.
'I don't think about my ranking too much,” Hostetler said. 'I would rather think about the team and use it for motivation.”
The Mid-Prairie team has another ranked runner in Moriah Brase, who is 27th. Brase was 12th at IMS in 21:19.63. Teammate Ana Fleming, who was ranked earlier in the year but has fallen out after an injury, was 10th at IMS in 21:14.74.
