Hostetler prevails at Trojan Early Bird
No. 1 (2A) 3rd in girls’ standings

IOWA CITY — The No. 1 runner in the girls’ Class 2A cross-country rankings put an early notch on her 2023 belt on Monday.
Mid-Prairie’s Danielle Hostetler went into a tough field at the Trojan Early Bird, hosted by Iowa City West, but as usual, she came out on top.
Hostetler finished the race in 19 minutes, 40.3 seconds. She beat out a trio of Hempstead runners to take home the crown by 14 seconds.
As a team, the Golden Hawks finished third. Mid-Prairie scored 74 points as a team. The Golden Hawks had five runners in the Top-20.
Annika Poll finished 16th overall, crossing the tape in 22:25.26. Brooklyn Stutzman was 18th, crossing in 22:32.8. Greta Sieren finished 19th, in 22:35.9, and Abby Fleming was right behind Sieren with a 20th place 22:37.3.
Phoebe Shetler was the sixth Golden Hawk girl across, finishing 23rd, in 23:06.9. Rebekah Wallington finished 31st, in 24:03.2.- Kali Miller took 33rd, in 24:15.2, and Dessa Poll finished 34h, in 24:16.
The Mid-Prairie boys took fifth, scoring seven points. The Golden Hawks were just seven points below Iowa City West for fourth place.
Jayse Yoder was the top dog for the Golden Hawk boys. He crossed the tape 15th, finishing in 15:53.4. Preston Yutzy finished 18th, in 18:14, to give Mid-Prairie two in the Top-20.
Max Swartzentruber crossed the tape in 19:25.6, for 32nd. Daniel Rodgers was 39th, in 19:58.6. Jacob Donaldson took 41st, in 20:33.5. Thomas Flynn was 43rs, in 20:25.7, and Jesse Stultz took 45th, in 20:56.1.
