Howard places 15th at Drake
DES MOINES ? Fairfield junior Sydney Howard capped a busy 12-hour period Friday morning by finishing in the top half of the 100-meter dash field at the Drake Relays in Des Moines.
Howard finished 15th out of the 32 best 100-dash runners in the state. The junior was second in her heat with a time of 13.08 seconds.

Howard finished 15th out of the 32 best 100-dash runners in the state. The junior was second in her heat with a time of 13.08 seconds.
?She didn?t make the finals but ran well. It?s a pretty big honor just to run here and then to place in the top half,? Fairfield head coach Ron Hunerdosse said. ?Her group ran against the strongest headwind, but sometimes that?s the way things happen.?
Last season, Howard finished fifth in the event.
