If you’re a fan of Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant or Washington football, don’t be making any plans to see any of the area’s best rivalry games in the opening weeks of the 2025 high school football season.
While early-season rivalries have become happenstance for the golden triangle in previous years, we finally approach a season of traditional non-district games, followed by close-quartered district showdowns.
For the first time in years, every battle between the five Southeast Conference 3A teams will have playoff implications. That’s because for the first time in years Fairfield, Washington, Mt. Pleasant, Fort Madison and Keokuk all landed in the same district.
When the IAHSAA redistricted in the winter, the five teams were placed with Solon in Class 3A’s District 4, meaning two SEC on SEC games will be played every week of the district schedule.
Listed below are the full Class 3A district pairings. These districts will remain steady in 2026 as well.
