Huskies blank Lone Tree

RIVERSIDE - Highland was on point Monday with a 3-0 sweep of Lone Tree to start the 2020 volleyball postseason.
The two teams had played twice previously, once at the beginning of the season and once a week ago. While Highland won both matches, Lone Tree won a set each time, something it was unable to do Monday.
The Huskies improved with each set, taking the match victory 25-19, 25-11, 25-9.
Carsen Mellinger led the Huskies defense at the net in solo blocks and assisted blocks, according to head coach Gena Trower. Highland's defense also saw Mackinze Hora with the highest amount of digs, followed closely by Sarah Burton. Kayla Cerny had the highest amount of kills, thanks to Dani Laughlin's assists.
Sarah Burton led the Huskies in serve efficiency and successes.
Lone Tree was eliminated with a record of 5-18. Highland advances in the Class 1A postseason with a ledger of 7-16 and will play No. 8 Holy Trinity Catholic (25-9) on the Crusaders home court tonight.
