Highland shut out its third-straight opponent on Friday night, blanking visiting Winfield-Mt. Union 49-0 on Homecoming.

Highland shut out its third-straight opponent on Friday night, blanking visiting Winfield-Mt. Union 49-0 on Homecoming.
The Husky defense held the Wolves (0-4, 0-2 Class A District 5) to 79 yards of offense. Junior Jesse Hootman made 16 tackles to lead the Highland defense, and senior Brad Lampe intercepted a pass.
Senior Derrick Stewart rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on six carries, and Hootman added 45 yards and two scores on nine attempts for the Huskies (3-1, 2-0 District 5), who have out-scored their last three opponents 152-0.
Senior Trey Brenneman also ran for 39 yards and a score on five carries, and junior quarterback Kody Wood ran for a 16-yard touchdown. Wood also threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to senior Talon McFarland, who caught three passes for 73 yards.
