Huskies, Demons, Panthers, Warriors compete at Highland Girls Tournament
Highland, Washington, Mt. Pleasant and WACO all had girls show out in the tournament

Area girls wrestling competed this past weekend in the Highland Girls Tournament, and a plethora saw success.
Highland hosted the tournament and also showed out with two girls finishing first and second.
Maddie Peiffer picked up a first place finish in weight class 10 with a pin and decision victory in the first two rounds before pinning Nicole Peterson of Iowa City High in round three.
Mackenzie McFarland followed Peiffer, with the first overall. McFarland picked up a 4-0 decision win in round one before pinning her next two opponents for the wight class two title.
Finishing in second for the Huskies was Abbigail Grout and Angelina Roling.
Grout was pinned in her first match at weight class one before bouncing back to pin Marissa Goodale of Iowa City West. Roling was defeated in her first match, but would turn it around with two victories by fall, defeating Nabi Emmanuel of Iowa City High in her final match at weight class three.
Lilly Barre and Jaydee Macareno rounded out Highland with third place finishes.
For Mt. Pleasant, only two girls competed.
Ella McNamee finished second for the Panthers after being pinned in her first match at weight class two. In round two and three, McNamee pinned Natalia Flack of Iowa City High and Riely Wright of Colfax-Mingo.
Abby Blint picked up a third-place finish at weight class four. Blint lost by decision in her first two matches, but won the third by pinning Clear Creek-Amana’s Marlie McBride.
Washington also had just two girls compete in the competition.
The Demon’s Teegan Sulentich finished second at weight class 14 and Jenna Bose fourth at weight class 12.
Sulentich lost her first match by decision, 6-2, but came back with two wins, one being a medical forfeit and the final a fall over Caitlyn Williams of Clear Creek-Amana.
Jenna Bose was defeated in all three of her matches, with all three being falls.
WACO had four girls compete in the tournament with two finishing second.
Heaven Steege got second wrestling at wight class seven. Steege was pinned in her first match, but then got a pin of her own in the second. In the second place match, she defeated Sydney Wilkes of Iowa City High by decision, 7-2.
The other second place finisher for the Warriors was Bralyyn Wagler at weight class 16, falling to Emma Cook of Colfax-Mingo twice by fall.
Alyssa Ferdig was a third place finisher at weight class three. She won by decision, 7-2, in her first match, but was pinned in both her second and third matches.
Finishing fourth for WACO was Rylee Rice at wight class six. She was pinned in round one, defeated by major decision in the second, and pinned in the third.
