Huskies dominate All-SEISC softball teams
As the summer sports seasons start to draw to a close, the postseason recognition will start to roll in.
Last week, the Southeast Iowa Super Conference announced its softball all-conference teams, which featured a number of area athletes.

As the summer sports seasons start to draw to a close, the postseason recognition will start to roll in.
Last week, the Southeast Iowa Super Conference announced its softball all-conference teams, which featured a number of area athletes.
Highland highlighted the area teams on the list, with four first-team selections, led by two unanimous selections to the team.
Senior Cheyann Adamson switched to catcher this season and enjoyed another tremendous season for the Huskies, batting .505 with an on-base percentage of .533, while driving in a team-best 41 RBIs this season.
She finished second on the team with 37 runs scored and 50 hits, while notching a team-best two homeruns on the year. She also stole 18 bases in 19 attempts.
Joining her as a unanimous selection to the all-converence list was junior center fielder Kelsey Hora.
Hora was the leadoff hitter for the Huskies, batting .585 and getting on base at a clip of .611, leading the team with 33 stolen bases, 62 hits and 42 runs scored.
She also drove in 12 RBIs on the year, not to mention her stellar defense, finishing with a .966 fielding percentage in the outfield.
Making her mark as a freshman, Kylie Wood was a first-team SEISC selection playing second base all season for the Huskies.
Wood batted .438 on the year (.494 on-base percentage) and stole 12 bases for the Huskies, scoring 18 runs on the year and driving in 10.
Eighth-grader Haley Sweeting also earned a spot on the first-team list for the Huskies, earning the nod as a utility player.
Sweeting primarily saw time as the team?s designated player in the latter half of the season, and made her at-bats count, hitting .385 with an on-base percentage of .429.
Highland freshman Megan Hoenig earned the nod as a second-team pitcher, going 15-5 in her 20 starts this season, notching a 2.42 ERA and striking out 73 batters in 136 innings pitched, while getting on base at a clip of .433 in 46 at-bats.
In the infield, freshman Aly Stokes was strong at shortstop and earned a second-team selection. The typical No. 2 hitter for the Huskies, Stokes batted .333 on the year, stealing 22 bases and driving in 17 runs, scoring 28 of her own.
Huskie cleanup hitter, freshman Abbie Miller also claimed a second-team selection as a utility player after splitting time between catcher and third base this season.
Miller was second on the team with 26 RBIs this season, scoring 14 runs of her own, while batting .316 on the season.
Earning honorable mention for the Huskies was sophomore Brylee Carolan, who swapped between first base and pitcher for the Huskies this season.
Carolan batted .258 for the Huskies on the year, driving in 15 runs from the No. 5 spot in the lineup, getting on base at a clip of .329.
As a pitcher, Carolan made 10 starts, going 5-5 and posting a 3.10 ERA through 52 innings, recording 33 strikeouts.
