Huskies haul in runs for softball win on Hillcrest

KALONA — Highland won a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division doubleheader Tuesday by a combined score of 27-1 over Hillcrest.

Highland rebounded from an opening loss Monday with eight runs in the first inning of the first game on the way to a 14-0 win and then the Huskies mushed their way to a 13-1 triumph in the second game with a seven run second inning.

Jessica Kraus clouted a home run. She, Mackinze Hora and Sarah Burton had two hits apiece while Grace Batchellor shut down the Ravens with six strikeouts in five innings. She gave up three hits.

Kraus pitched all three innings of the second game with three hits, a walk and six Ks. Payton Brun, Abbi Stransky and Katelyn Waters each had two hits. Stransky had a double. Brun had three runs batted in.
