Huskies have seven earn SEISC honors
It was a tough end to the season for the highland baseball team last week, falling to Lone Tree in 11 innings in a district semifinal match, but the Huskies efforts were rewarded in the announcement of the All-Conference lists.

It was a tough end to the season for the highland baseball team last week, falling to Lone Tree in 11 innings in a district semifinal match, but the Huskies efforts were rewarded in the announcement of the All-Conference lists.
With the release of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference teams, Highland had seven athletes earn recognition.
In his final campaign for the Huskies, Ben Bean had a stellar season, batting .358 with an on-base percentage of .447 to help lead the team.
Bean finished the year with 26 runs scored and 21 RBIs, as well as tying for the team lead with two homeruns.
Joining Bean on the first team is sophomore Billy Burton, who led the team with 26 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
Burton batted .316 with an on-base percentage of .413 and drew 11 walks on the season.
He also was perfect on stolen base attempts, leading the team with 29 on the year.
Adam Schwarz also was named first-team All-conference for his efforts this year, after a strong year batting and pitching.
On the mound, the senior pitched 33 innings, posting a 3-2 record in seven starts and a 3.39 ERA.
At the plate, Schwarz scored 16 runs and notched 24 hits as he batted .296 with an on-base percentage of .387. He also knocked in 16 RBIs and drew nine walks this season.
On the All-Conference Second team, Highland had a pair of selections, with Chase Rath and Jake Yeggy each being honored.
Rath, a sophomore, made his mark as a pitcher this summer, starting seven contests and pitching 50 innings, as he posted a 4-2 record. He finished the season with a 2.80 ERA and struck out 52 batters in the process.
At the plate, Rath batted .269 with an on-base percentage of .364 and scored 14 runs for the Huskies.
Yeggy, a senior, batted .324 in his final season for the Huskies, driving in 20 runs and scoring 14 of his own.
Yeggy walked 10 times to bring his on-base percentage up to .415 for the season.
Sophomore Caleb Brase and senior Lane Welsh each earned honorable mention for the Huskies this season.
Brase batted .288 on the season, notching 21 RBIs and scoring 13 runs, while starting four games on the mound and posting a 1.86 ERA in 37 2/3 innings. He struck out 26 this season and had a WHIP of 1.27.
Welsh was strong at the plate for Highland, posting an on-base percentage of .458 on the year and batting .328.
Welsh drove in 10 runs in his final season as a Huskie and scored 23 runs.
