RIVERSIDE — Highland softball took care of business Monday night, rolling past English Valleys 8-0 in a Class 1A Region 4 playoff matchup at Highland High School.
The Huskies needed just five innings to get the job done, putting together a dominant performance both at the plate and in the field. Highland scored in every inning, setting the tone early with two runs in the first and never looking back.
They added a run in each of the second and third innings to extend their lead to 4-0, showcasing a disciplined and focused approach in the batter’s box.
On the defensive side, the Huskies stifled any momentum from the Bears, stranding runners and allowing just four hits throughout the game.
Highland closed out the win by doubling its lead over the final two frames, scoring two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the run rule victory.
With the win, the Huskies advance to face North Linn in the Class 1A Region 4 quarterfinals.
