Highland puts 10 on Tigers for fourth win in a row

NEW LONDON — Highland and New London softball squared off with one another Friday night in an Southeast Iowa Super Conference North and South battle.
The Huskies won the night, as Grace Batcheller put together a great performance from the circle, while throwing a shutout and giving up just two hits.
Seven errors plagued the Tigers in the contest.
After scoring just once in the first two innings, Highland put nine straight on the board between the third and sixth.
In the third, the Huskies brought five runs in, followed by two in the four and one each in the fifth and sixth to down the Tigers in six innings.
Payton Brun went a perfect 4-4 in the win with two RBIs. Sarah Burton finished with a pair of hits. Jessica Kraus, Mackinze Hora, MyLei Smith, Lilly Barre and Katelyn Waters all had a hit as well. Barre ended with two RBIs, while Madison Beeson and Kraus each had one.
Elly Manning and Marlianna Woodsmall each tallied hits for the Tigers.
Manning pitched six innings, giving up 10 runs on eight hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
