Highland boys soccer beats Washington with pair of 2nd half scores

RIVERSIDE — A pair of Washington County boys soccer teams did battle in Riverside on Thursday night. For the first time since 2019, it was the Huskies who were able to score a neighborly win.
Both the Demons and Huskies scored once in the first half. Highland doubled up Washington in the second half, putting up two goals to grind out a victory.
Highland’s Jared Diaz, Logan McFarland and Sage Hartley-Norman each had goals in the win for Highland. Diaz assisted on both McFarland and Hartley-Norman’s goals.
Ayden Havel had a fantastic night in net, saving 13 shots to earn the win for Highland.
Washington’s Edwin Cortez and Brendan Taylor each scored. Joseph Schreiber had one assist.
Kaden Reed had nine saves in net for the Demons.
Highland moved to 2-0 on the year. The Huskies host Sigourney-Keota on Tuesday night.
Washington, now 0-2, will play at Hillcrest Academy on Tuesday.
