The season ended abruptly for the Highland volleyball team on Friday night.
The Huskies traveled to face off against No. 4 ranked West Branch, looking to pull off the upset, but the Bears flexed their muscles and cruised to a straight set victory to end Highland?s season.
The loss ends the Huskies? season with 20 wins, as Highland went 20-13 on the season.
West Branch started off the match quickly, jumping out to a 9-1 lead in the first set, and eventually used a 7-1 run later in the first set to claim a 25-9 victory.
In set 2, the Bears took the first 10 points, en route to a 25-6 victory, but Highland started the third set off better.
The Huskies kept things close, trailing 4-3, but West Branch cruised to a 24-9 victory to advance to the regional finals on Wednesday night.
Highland was led by senior Briana Davis, who tied with sophomore Brylee Carolan for the team lead with three kills, while Davis also led the team with three assists.
Sophomores Sydney Black and Bailey Harmston each had two kills.
Black led the team with eight digs in the contest, while Davis and junior Kelsey Hora each finished the night with seven digs.
Highland converted 88.5 percent of their serves on the night, with junior Amy Schoebelen posting the Huskies? only ace on the night.
Highland will lose three seniors from this season?s team, as they hope to build on one of their highest win totals in recent seasons.
