The Highland volleyball team needed three sets, but they did just that on Saturday evening.
The Huskies advanced to the Southeast Iowa Super Conference finals with a 3-1 performance on Thursday night, but hadn?t gotten past the first round of the tournament in recent memory.
Paired with New London in the opening match, the Huskies fell in the first set, 25-16, but rebounded for a 25-21 victory and closed the match with a 15-13 in the decisive third set to advance to the SEISC semifinals.
Aly Stokes had 10 kills to lead the Huskies offensively, while Amy Schnoebelen had a team-high 12 assists, and Murphy Beinhart claimed 11 assists on the night.
Sydney Black and Kelsey Hora flew around the court defensively, notching 17 and 16 digs respectively for the Huskies.
In the semifinals, the Huskies took on Mediapolis but fell in straight sets, 25-20, 25-19, despite four kills from Brylee Carolan.
The Huskies got paired with Burlington, Notre Dame, for the third-place match, but fell 25-13, 25-16 in the match, taking fourth place.
In the third-place match, Highland saw Bailey Harmston claim six kills, while Black notched five.
Highland improved to 16-7 on the season, and will prepare for a home match against Louisa-Muscatine on Thursday.
