It was a busy summer for Ide Gymnastics. In July, the group, based out of Fairfield, brought home four national championships from the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
Coach Marissa Rupe was a national champion for the 10th time, being crowned in both the trampoline and double mini trampoline championships.
Kaylee Wright was a national champion in ages 9-10 novice level trampoline, and in ages 8-10 novice level double mini trampoline. That was her fifth time being a national champ.
Audrey Robinson earned a national championship in ages 7-9 intermediate level trampoline. Riley Lathrop won the national title in ages 8-10 sub-novice 1 level power tumbling.
Athletes at the AAU competition compete in their own level of skills within their age group and event. The events consist of trampoline, double mini trampoline, power tumbling and single mini trampoline.
Coach Rupe was chosen to represent the senior team, which encompasses all competitors. Three from Ide Gymnastics were chosen to represent the junior team. Wright, Reagan Wise and Kamryn Tharp all earned that honor.
Coach Jeanne Ide was presented with the “Coach with a Heart” plaque from her peers in memory of Nancy Truelove.
Coach Rupe received the AAU USA Jr. Olympic All-American Award for trampoline and double mini trampoline. Kamryn Tharp received the AAU second place district award in both beginner power tumbling and double mini trampoline. Skylar Smith received the AAU first place district award in novice trampoline and the second place district award in double mini trampoline and power tumbling.
