Ide Gymnastics competes at AAU Junior Olympics
The Gymnastics team takes 19 athletes, returns with 15 National Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Ide Gymnastics in Fairfield has had a sensational season.
The season was culminated with a trip to the 2022 AAU Junior Olympics in Greensboro, North Carolina back in July.
The gymnastics unit did not disappoint as they took 19 athletes and walked away with 15 National Championships, along with loads of hardware and plaques.
At the competition, the athletes are divided into age groups and skill levels, and the competitors are then placed into “flights” of no more than 10 in each. The scores are then compiled and posted according to their placement against all other competitors in the same age and skill level.
A handful of these levels totaled 60 or more girls and boys. The overall top 10 scoring performers then competed again to determine overall performance. They then earned a spot on the podium according to their placement.
The athletes competed in trampoline, double mini trampoline, single mini trampoline and power tumbling.
A few athletes received first-place in more than one area.
Ashlynn Adrian took first overall in power tumbling and single mini trampoline at the sub-advanced level. Jacob Wallace was a top placer in trampoline and double mini trampoline in the novice level. Skylar Smith was first in both trampoline and double mini trampoline at the intermediate level. Kaylee Wright in trampoline and double mini trampoline in the advanced and intermediate levels. Kaylee Wright and Skylar Smith also received a first-place in synchronized trampoline at the intermediate level while also receiving a coveted “10” perfect score.
Madilynn Wallace took first-place in power tumbling at the sub-beginner level, ages 4 and under. Randi Ellis was first in trampoline at the novice level, ages 5-8. Reagan Wise ended in first in power tumbling at the beginner level, ages 10. Riley Lathrop was crowned first in trampoline in the novice level, ages 10. Alyson Lilley was first-place in power tumbling in the advanced beginner level, ages 11.
Coach Marissa Rupe was a second-place finisher in both elite trampoline and in synchronized trampoline with Shalome Watson. Ashlynn Adrian and Alyson Lilley both finished second in synchronized trampoline.
In third-place was Kamryn Tharp in power tumbling. Dawson Wiggins in double mini trampoline and single mini trampoline. Phoebe Sorak in single mini trampoline also took third.
Renleigh Forrett earned a fourth-place finish in trampoline and single mini trampoline. Eliana Ferdig took fourth in trampoline.
Nadia Royer came back with a fifth-place finish in trampoline. Ashley Lyons took seventh in both power tumbling and double mini trampoline. Katelyn Brecount and Ashley Lyons each finished seventh in synchronized trampoline. Katelyn Brecount ended with a 10th-place finish in double mini trampoline. Aurora Rodriguez took 12th in the finals for trampoline. Vera Sorak was 16th in both her trampoline and single mini trampoline.
During the preliminaries round of the competition, scores are accumulated and totaled against all ages in that level. Plaques are then given for the high scores.
Riley Lathrop was second overall in double mini trampoline, intermediate level. She was also second in power tumbling, sub-novice level and trampoline, novice level.
Reagan Wise took second in power tumbling, beginner level and first in double mini trampoline, novice level.
Renleigh Forrett was second in trampoline, beginner level.
Skylar Smith took first trampoline, intermediate level.
Alyson Lilley finished second power tumbling, advanced beginner level
Ashlynn Adrian was a second-place finisher in the sub-advanced level.
Kaylee Wright was awarded the All American Double Mini Award. She finished second in double mini trampoline, advanced level and first in trampoline, intermediate level.
