IGHSAU releases 1A, 2A, 3A postseason pairings

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has announced the postseason regional pairings for the three smallest classes.

Three Class 1A area teams get to play their first postseason game at home at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7.

Iowa Mennonite, which has a 7-9 record, hosts Iowa Valley (3-12) in Region 4. The winner of that game plays Tuesday, Feb. 12, against No. 5 Lynville-Sully (12-3) in Sully.

Keota (6-12) hosts English Valleys (4-11) in Region 5. The winner plays the winner of Moulten-Udell (6-9) and Melcher-Dallas (2-14) Feb. 12 in Keota. That winner likely plays No. 3 Montezuma (15-1) Feb. 12 in Montezuma.

Also in Region 5 but in the lower half of the bracket, WACO (5-11) hosts Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division foe Winfield-Mt. Union (4-12). The winner plays at Sigourney (11-3) Feb. 12.

In Class 2A Region 5, North Division rivals Columbus (0-15) and Highland play at 7 p.m. at Highland (12-5) Saturday, Feb. 9. The winner plays No. 13 Wilton (15-1) at 7 p.m. Feb. 12, in Wilton.

In Class 3A Region 5, Mid-Prairie (10-6) hosts Mount Vernon (7-8) in Wellman Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. The winner plays the winner of No. 3 Center Point-Urbana (14-1) and Solon (2-13) at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 in Center Point.
