IHSAA, IGHSAU release soccer pairings

The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union have released postseason pairings for soccer.
In boys, Washington, which has a 2-9 record, will start postseason play in Class 2A Substate 5 against Southeast Conference foe Ft. Madison (7-7) at 5 p.m., Monday, May 20, at Iowa City Liberty. If Washington wins, it will play at 4 p.m. Wednesday May 22, at top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier (9-2). The other side of the bracket has Mt. Pleasant (10-4) playing the winner of Iowa City Liberty (5-7) and Keokuk (1-12). The game to go to state will be at Xavier Saturday, May 25, at a time yet to be determined.
Iowa Mennonite School (7-2), ranked eighth in Class 1A, starts the postseason Monday, May 20, at Pella Christian in Substate 6 with a 5 p.m., game against Grand View Christian (2-7). The winner will play the winner of Chariton (8-3) and Clarke Osceola (4-3)at 5 p.m. at Solon Wednesday May 22. Third-ranked Solon (13-3) is on the other side of the bracket and the game to go to state will be at Solon Saturday, May 25, at noon.
Also in Class 1A are Highland (1-9) and Mid-Prairie (7-3), which are in Substate 4. Both play Monday, May 20, at Vinton-Shellsburg. Mid-Prairie plays at 5 p.m. against 12th-ranked South Tama (9-4). Highland plays the ninth-ranked hosts (9-3) at 7 p.m. The winner of those two matches play each other Wednesday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Vinton-Shellsburg. No. 2 Iowa City Regina (10-4) is on the other side of the bracket and the game to go to state is at Regina Saturday, May 25, at noon.
Columbus (5-6) will face No. 13 West Liberty (5-5) at 6:30 p.m. at West Liberty Monday, May 20, in 1A Substate 5. The winner will play the winner of Mediapolis (6-8) and Holy Trinity (9-5). No. 4 Notre Dame/West Burlington (11-1) is on the other side of the bracket. The game to go to state will be at Notre Dame Saturday, May 25, at noon.
The Washington girls, who have a 7-6 record, play at Clear Creek-Amana (8-4) at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 23, in Class 2A Region 3. The winner plays at No. 12 Bondurant-Farrar (6-4) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 28.
In 1A Region 8, Columbus (4-3) plays Wapello (0-5) at Davenport Assumption at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 28. The winner plays the winner of top-ranked Davenport Assumption (10-0) and West Liberty (0-7) at 6 p.m. Friday, May 31.
In 1A Region 4, Mid-Prairie (6-3) plays Central Lee (0-7) at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Mid-Prairie. The winner plays No. 9 Holy Trinity (9-4) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at West Point.
