After losing at Louisa-Muscatine by 26 points earlier this season, the Iowa Mennonite School girls basketball team defeated the Falcons Friday.

Suzanna Yoder led IMS with 29 points, seven assists, two steals and nine rebounds. Yani Gutierrez added nine points and three assists. Mia Graber and Rubye Ney each added six points. Graber pulled down eight rebounds and Ney five.
'Offensively we're moving the ball better, our transition game is clicking, and our half court execution was excellent,” IMS coach Kari Heusinkveld said of the difference in the two games. 'We were able to get good looks in just about every area we needed to and the girls just flat-out knocked down shots.
'Defensively, we've improved individually and as a unit. Over break, we had a lot of time to work on fundamentals and just play, so when we played, we mostly went man to try and instill those man concepts better, and it really helped. The last two games, we've done a much better job of keeping people in front and our rebounding effort is much improved. We mixed it up quite a bit against them with our man and our zone; I think that was ultimately the difference in the game.”
IMS is 7-6 overall, 5-5 North and plays at Mediapolis Tuesday.
West Liberty 38, Mid-Prairie 28
After winning a 3-point River Valley Conference home game Tuesday, the Golden Hawks lost by three at home Friday.
Shae Becker had 11 points and two blocks while Kessa Jones grabbed eight rebounds for Mid-Prairie (9-5, 8-5), which hosts Tipton Tuesday.
Highland 68, Cardinal 30
Alyssa Brase helped the road win with 16 rebounds and 14 points while Huskies teammates Aly Stokes had 20 points and 14 rebounds and Abbie Miller 19 rebounds and 14 points.
Notre Dame 58, Washington 36
Isabel Bailey scored 10 points for the Demons Thursday.
'We were down two of our bigs due to injury and another one had a family emergency, so she wasn't at practice all week,” WHS coach Shannon Rugg said. 'It was a very tough week for the team to deal with all of that. We did play hard but made too many mistakes. I thought Haylee Wilson played her best game this year so far. She had to learn a new postion with everything going on and did a great job. Kellie Dallmeyer played a very good game for us also. She came in early due to foul trouble and gave us some very good minutes. We couldn't get enough stops on defense to keep ourselves in the game. I have to give Notre Dame credit, they made the open shots when they got them and we just couldn't do that. We have to learn from this game and move on.”
Washington is 5-7 and did not play Saturday at Oskaloosa because of the weather. The Demons host Fairfield Friday.
