IMS boys basketball team topples Winfield Tuesday
IMS was host to Winfield-Mt. Union in a rematch Tuesday night, Jan. 24, in Hillcrest Union and this time IMS exploded for a 29-8 lead after one quarter on the way to a 43-18 half-time lead.
IMS went on to defeat the Wolves 58-28. IMS suffered an overtime loss to the Wolves in Winfield in December.

IMS was host to Winfield-Mt. Union in a rematch Tuesday night, Jan. 24, in Hillcrest Union and this time IMS exploded for a 29-8 lead after one quarter on the way to a 43-18 half-time lead.
IMS went on to defeat the Wolves 58-28. IMS suffered an overtime loss to the Wolves in Winfield in December.
IMS jumped out to a 13-5 lead after four minutes on the strength of two treys by Nick Yutzy and then another by Caleb Gingerich, prompting a Winfield timeout.
Cole Ours then got in on the act, adding three more treys, and Adrian Gonzales added yet one more triple to give IMS seven treys by half-time.
IMS was led on the night by Ours with 16 points, including four 3s, and Yutzy had 14. Cole Yoder had eight points, Gingerich tallied six points on a pair of triples, Finny Lackender and Mitchell Schmieder had four points apiece, and Reggie Borntrager and Gonzales scored three points.
Ours and Yutzy each had five assists, and Gingerich had three. Yoder had four rebounds and Lackender had three.
Ours had three steals, and Schmieder and Gingerich had two steals apiece.
Coach Dwight Gingerich said, ?It was great to see us get off to a great start, and to see the shots fall.
?The ball movement was really good, and defensively we made them work. Each of our guys made significant contributions to the effort for a terrific team win.?
The IMS mark goes to 8-5 in conference play, 11-5 overall. IMS next plays tonight against WACO at home. The boys game begins after girls? action at 6 p.m.
