It was a fast start for the IMS softball team on Tuesday night.
Iowa Mennonite opened their postseason at home against Winfield-Mt. Union, and wasted no time getting on the board, using a seven-run first inning to spark a 13-2 victory in five innings, advancing on in regional play.
Suzanna Yoder was strong at the plate for IMS, going 4-for-4, as her team opened the game with 12 batters reaching the plate in the seven-run frame.
Calli Shaw notched a homer in the second inning, and IMS pulled a 9-2 lead after three innings.
A four-run fourth inning put IMS up 13-2 and they cruised to the mercy rule, winning the regional contest.
