IMS defeated in SEISC finals

WEST BURLINGTON -- At Southeastern Community College Saturday, Iowa Mennonite School had its work cut out for it.
IMS had made it out of Thursday's pool play in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Tournament at Highland as one of eight teams to qualify for the finals.
The reward was to face Class 1A's No. 3 team and perennial power Holy Trinity.
The result was a Crusaders' victory 25-10, 25-12.
Mia Graber had four kills for IMS while Samantha Miller had eight assists. Suzanna Yoder got to 17 digs. Rubye Ney had one ace and one block.
IMS is 12-11 and plays at Winfield-Mount Union Thursday.
Holy Trinity won the tournament with a 25-18, 25-11 win over West Burlington in the semifinal and a 25-10, 25-20 win over Class 2A No. 11 Van Buren in the final.
West Burlington (12-5)downed Central Lee (16-7) 25-22, 25-22.
With the victory over IMS, HTC coach Melissa Freesmeier recorded her 900th career win.
HTC has not lost a set this season in building a 22-0 record.
Van Buren (21-3) beat Cardinal (11-11) 25-18, 25-12 and Mediapolis (12-9) 25-14, 24-26, 15-13 to get to the finals.
Class 1A's No. 9 New London lost to Mediapolis 25-12, 16-25, 17-15.
West Burlington defeated Mediapolis in the third-place match 25-13, 23-25, 15-10.
