IMS dropped a pair of games at the Mid-Prairie Hawk baseball tournament on Saturday. IMS lost to Mt. Pleasant 7-4 and then lost to the host Golden Hawks 7-2.

IMS dropped a pair of games at the Mid-Prairie Hawk baseball tournament on Saturday. IMS lost to Mt. Pleasant 7-4 and then lost to the host Golden Hawks 7-2.
IMS scored three runs in the seventh inning against Mt. Pleasant (4-5), but its comeback fell short. Junior Dallas Nye went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead IMS, and junior Tyler Messer also drove in a run. Junior Tanner Leyden and senior Joel Shetler hit doubles, while senior Cameron Gingerich , junior Lane Schrock and junior Brent Brenneman each chipped in a single.
Sophomore Payton Miller gave up six runs, five of which were earned, on nine hits in five innings to take the loss. He struck out four batters and walked two.
Mid-Prairie (3-9) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings and rolled to a 7-2 win over IMS. Brenneman went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead IMS (4-5), while Leyden and senior Aaron Ockenfels both went 2-for-4. Hostetler had a hit and an RBI, and Gingerich also had a single.
Nye gave up seven runs, two of which were earned, on 12 hits in six innings. He fanned eight batters and walked two.
Junior Nick Stimson, junior Seth Eash, freshman Karson Duwa, sophomore Jackson Yoder and sophomore Carson Christianson had two hits apiece for the Golden Hawks. Senior Jonas Coblentz and junior Spencer Shalla added hits.
