Just three days after losing a tough match two sets to one to Winfield-Mt. Union at the Wilton tournament, IMS again lost to the Wolves in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference match on Tuesday night. Winfield-Mt. Union swept IMS by scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 27-25.
?This was a tough loss for us since we had just played Winfield at the tournament on Saturday and knew that we were capable of beating them this time around,? IMS head coach Cindy Miller said. ?The first two games we started out slowly and gave Winfield far too many free balls, which turned into points for them.?
IMS (7-9, 1-2 SEISC North) gained some momentum in the third set after getting blocks from senior Anya Slabaugh and junior Olivia Yutzy. Yutzy hammered down six of her 11 kills in that set, but IMS just couldn?t get the win to push Winfield-Mt. Union to a fourth set.
Junior Casey Perez finished with 17 assists on the night, and she also had nine digs. Junior Kristin Davis had a team-high 23 digs, and senior Laura Hochstetler had nine digs.
