IMS picked up a key conference victory at Mediapolis on Saturday night, defeating the Bulldogs 72-58 in a game that featured the second- and third-place teams in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.
IMS (9-1, 9-1 SEISC North) held a slim 20-18 advantage at the end of a fast-paced first quarter, but used a 15-2 run at the end of the second quarter to open up a 44-29 halftime lead. Mediapolis (6-5, 6-3 SEISC North) trimmed the lead to 12 points early in the third quarter, but a dunk by IMS junior Dallas Nye sparked a 13-4 flurry to end the third quarter.
?A win at Mediapolis is always big, and they have been playing well,? IMS head coach Dwight Gingerich said.
Nye and senior Cameron Gingerich bounced back from injuries the night before to lead IMS with 19 points apiece. Senior Peyton Thompson added a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists, and senior Justin Boller drained three 3-pointers for nine points.
