IMS scored three runs in the top of the first inning in Tuesday?s Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division softball game at WACO, and then held off the Warriors for a 4-3 win.
IMS added a run in the sixth, and the visitors took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh. WACO doubled to score a run, and then an IMS throwing error allowed two Warriors to score and trim the lead to 4-3. But IMS pitcher Laura Hochstetler ended the game with a strikeout.
Sophomore Demi Brezina led IMS with three hits, and Hochstetler had a pair of hits. Junior Jacayla Litwiller had a pair of RBIs, while Hochstetler and senior Keilah Brokaw both drove in a run apiece.
IMS (1-1, 1-1 SEISC North) hosts conference rival Lone Tree tonight.
