IMS opens season at Central Indoor

Sophomore Riley Schmieder was the team?s top finisher when the IMS girls? track and field team opened its season at the Jordan Sump Classic at Central College on Saturday.

Schmieder finished 20

^th

in the 1,500-meter run, crossing the finish line in 5:51.84. She also came in 78

^th

in the 55-meter hurdles in 10.90 seconds.

Sophomore Renee Buckwalter finished 29

^th

in the 800-meter run in 2:55.32, and she anchored IMS? 4x200 relay team, which also included Anya Slabaugh, Kristin Davis and Schmieder, to a 34

^th

-place finish in 2:07.63.

Slabaugh also finished 43th in the 55-meter hurdles in 10.88 seconds, 96

^th

in the 55-meter dash in 8.32 seconds and 74

^th

in the 200-meter dash in 31.13 seconds. Davis came in 69

^th

in the 200-meter dash in 30.92 seconds, and she was 114

^th

in the 55-meter dash in 8.41 seconds.

IMS will run in its first outdoor meet on April 4 at Danville.
