IMS sweeps past Columbus

KALONA - Iowa Mennonite School won both the boys and girls Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division basketball games over Columbus on Alumni Night Tuesday.
The IMS boys dismantled the Wildcats 70-33 behind Eli Ours' 16 points while the girls cruised to a 37-16 triumph.
Suzanna Yoder led IMS with 13 points, seven assists and seven steals. Yani Gutierrez recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Mia Graber added six points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Kobe Borntrager and Blake Bontrager combined for 17 rebounds. Caleb Gingerich doled out seven assists. Trevor Leyden and Bontrager hit for 10 points each.
'Our pressure created opportunities for us, and we moved the ball well for good looks,” IMS boys coach Dwight Gingerich said. 'It was a terrific Alumni Night environment with a packed house, so a great atmosphere and a good opportunity to get each of our guys quality minutes.”
The boys are now 5-2 overall and in the North. The girls are 5-5, 3-4. Both teams play at Highland Friday.
