IMS track and field at Raider Invite

The Iowa Mennonite girls track and field team opened their outdoor season Tuesday, April 4, at the Raider Invite in Williamsburg.

Weather conditions forced a cancelation Thursday, March 30, at Danville and a one-day postponement of the Raider Invite.

Nine athletes represented Iowa Mennonite scoring 10 team points.

Meet highlights include Calli Shaw?s fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a near personal best time of 1:06.73.

Emma Beachy threw a season-best shot put distance and placed sixth in the discus with a best throw of 87 feet 11 inches.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Sarena Gerber, Greta Schrag, Payton Hart and Avery Blauvelt ran a season-best time of 13:00.33 to place seventh.

Three young men represented IMS in the boys division.

It was the first time competing in track and field at the high school level for senior sprinters Juan Andino and Adrian Gonzales.

Freshman Logan Thomas ran the 800-meter run and threw the shot put.

The track and field teams compete next in Lone Tree April 10.
