IMS scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to win a pitcher?s duel between seniors Cameron Gingerich and Andy Dodson 3-2 on Friday night.
IMS (1-1, 1-1 SEISC North) picked up its first win of the season despite getting just three hits in the game. Junior Dallas Nye went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs, and freshman Tobyn Bender had the team?s only other hit. Senior Cameron Gingerich scored a pair of runs, and junior Tanner Leyden scored a run.
Gingerich was the game?s winning pitcher, allowing two runs, one of which was earned, on just four hits in a complete-game effort. He struck out nine Lions and did not issue a walk.
Dodson took the loss for Lone Tree (1-1, 0-1 SEISC North) despite allowing just three hits and striking out 17 batters in 6 2/3 innings.
