?The team played very consistent rallies throughout the morning and we overcame a few close matches,? IMS head coach Cindy Miller said. ?Solid hits by outside hitters Olivia Yutzy and Laura Hochstetler, accurate sets from Casey Perez and flawless serving from Naomi Miller helped clinch those victories. I also thought our libero, Kristin Davis, did a nice job defensively covering and passing the ball.?
IMS won its first set against Winfield-Mt. Union 23-21, but the Wolves won the next two by scores of 22-20 and 15-10 to rally. Durant, the 11
th
-ranked team in Class 2A, then defeated IMS by scores of 21-19 and 21-16.
?We played pretty evenly matched against Winfield-Mt. Union and Durant, but just couldn?t put the ball away at key times to pull off those wins,? Miller said. ?We meet up with Winfield-Mt. Union this coming Tuesday night in a conference match where we look forward to playing them again.?
IMS finished the tournament by sweeping Mt. Pleasant by scores of 21-15 and 21-18.
