Indians pull away from Panthers late
Mt. Pleasant suffers loss to Oskaloosa at home

MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant suffered a tough loss on Tuesday night to the Indians of Oskaloosa 56-40.
The Panthers battled back and forth with the Indians through the first half.
It was the Panthers who took the early lead on a Indians off a three ball from Aiden Humble.
The two schools traded the lead four times before the Indians took the lead at 11-8 and would never give it up.
However, the Panthers stay right within reach. Oskaloosa never led more than four through the first six minutes of the second quarter, but a 5-0 run by the Indians made it an eight point game, 25-17, with just over a minute to go.
The Panther’s Brody Clark drilled a three with 1:18 left to pull it back within five, 25-20, but a pair of free throws from the Indians made it a seven point game at the half, 27-20.
To start the second half, Oskaloosa extended its lead to 29-20, but once again Mt. Pleasant answered.
Noah Lange scored five straight to make it a four point game, 29-25.
To the Panthers dismay, the Indians only built on their lead the rest of the way. Oskaloosa outscored Mt. Pleasant 13-5 the rest of the period.
At the start of the fourth quarter, Mt. Pleasant trailed Oskaloosa 42-30. Four points is all that separated the two teams in the final quarter, but the Panthers couldn’t get back into it.
Mt. Pleasant drops to 1-10 on the year with the loss. The Panthers will take on Fort Madison on Friday.
