Indians repeat sinking of Columbus

WAPELLO - Columbus improved slightly from its regular season meeting with Class A District 6 foe Wapello in a first-round playoff game Friday.
The Wildcats lost 56-6 after a 49-7 defeat Sept. 25, but it was just 21-0 after the first quarter Friday after 35-0 Sept. 25.
Columbus mustered just 76 total yards in the previous game but rolled up 281 yards of offense Friday. Tucker Bright caught the only completed pass and gained 24 yards. Bright had 63 yards rushing on nine carries. Andrew Gonzalez gained 75 yards on 21 carries and Kaden Amigon led with 90 yards on 10 carries. Gonzalez had the Wildcats only score, a touchdown in the third quarter.
The Wildcats leading tackler was Gauge Storm with Jeff Hoback, Amigon and Gonzalez all tied for second.
Wapello's Tade Parsons was 10-of-11 passing for 271 yards and four scores. Caleb Ealey had 132 yards rushing.
Columbus ends the season with a 2-6 record. Wapello (4-3) advances to play Iowa City Regina.
