Indians’ war paint colors Columbus with loss

COLUMBUS JUNCTION - In a boys basketball season opener for both teams at Columbus Junction Tuesday, Wapello notched a Super Conference North Division win with the 81-34 decision over Columbus.
Ten Indians scored, with Maddux Griffin leading the way with 21 points. Caden Thomas scored 16 points for Wapello, Tade Parsons had 10 and Rhett Smith added nine.
The Columbus leading scorers were Justus Lekwa with eight points and Mason Hodges, also with eight.
Wapello plays Hillcrest Academy at Kalona Friday. Columbus plays at Louisa-Muscatine Friday.
